SE Design has a career opportunity for a Geomatics Manager in our Sherwood Park, Alberta office.

Position Description:

We are seeking a motivated individual with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in providing geomatics and land survey services. The Geomatics Manager is responsible for taking the lead on geomatics projects and ensures that they are well planned and successfully executed.
The Geomatics Manager role will provide leadership and oversight of geomatics projects including land development, topographic surveys, road and utility construction surveys, and other varied types of surveys.
This role will involve periodic interoffice travel to Cold Lake for project implementation and execution.

Position Duties:

Responsible for management of office and field geomatics projects undertaken by the SE Design project delivery team including client management, project planning, execution and delivery.
Provide experienced geomatics leadership and technical support to assist in successful project delivery.
Collaborate with SE Design project delivery team to communicate scope and scheduling to team members.
Provide guidance, training and mentoring of SE Design’s geomatics team of technical staff.
Validate core competencies for the geomatics team members to ensure that technical staff meet corporate competency requirements.

Use Project Management methodology to ensure a high level of client satisfaction with SE Design’s geomatics and consulting services.
Anticipate client’s questions or concerns and keep ahead of any impact on a client’s project and ensure on-time delivery and client satisfaction.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to proactively respond to time-sensitive issues with exceptional time and people management skills.
Utilize Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Trimble Business Center, MicroSurvey and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D for the review and interpretation of plans and specifications for construction and legal survey projects.
Oversee the preparation of documentation and reporting developed by the technical team, to ensure accuracy of deliverables according to project requirements and effective client communication.
Assist with management of financial activities for geomatics projects, including accurate billing, transparent client communication, revenue tracking, invoice issuance, and receivable management.
Oversee drafting and calculations processes for construction surveys, such as preliminary topographic surveys, record plan survey, utility staking, road construction, pile staking and construction grid line layout.
Facilitate team meetings to foster efficient, effective, and timely project delivery to ensure that client satisfaction is achieved.
Manage general office responsibilities, data management, and survey drafting duties.
Participate in the implementation and maintenance of SE Design’s safety program and COR certification.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3-5 years as a commissioned Land Surveyor with the ability to be registered with the Alberta Land Surveyors Association. Commission as a Canadian Land Surveyor would be an asset.
Degree or diploma in geomatics engineering, geomatics technology program or related field.
A minimum of 5-10 years of previous practical surveying experience is required.
Proven ability to oversee geomatics projects, work in a variety of client settings and collaboratively manage a team of technical and professional staff.
Strong project management and coordination skills.
Ability to obtain security screening clearance including secret status for entrance to 4-Wing Cold Lake.
Valid Class 5 Drivers License with a minimum of 4 years verified Canadian driving experience.
Previous experience with Trimble Business Center, MicroSurvey and AutoCAD Civil 3D would be beneficial.
Familiarity with Alberta provincial land survey standards and requirements.
Excellent communication skills, including teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Positive work ethic and adaptability to a variety of projects.
Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office and typical engineering software.
Previous experience managing and mentoring project staff would be an asset.
